RB Leipzig have confirmed sporting director Ralf Rangnick has agreed terms to a two-year contract extension after there was reported interest from Everton.
TalkSport claims that Rangnick, 59, has “snubbed” interest from the Toffees by committing his future to the Bundesliga club after the Daily Mail reported Goodison Park’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri had set his sights on the German.
Leipzig confirmed the contract news on their official Twitter account on Sunday night, adding that Rangnick is now tied down to the Champions League club until 2021.

On Friday, Rangnick was the strong 2/1 favourite to be named as Everton manager but his odds have now severely drifted with SkyBet in the wake of Leipzig’s contract announcement.
Sam Allardyce is currently the odds-on favourite to become Ronald Koeman’s successor on Merseyside.
The Dutchman was sacked by the Toffees board five weeks ago and it seems that a snap decision is due following two heavy defeats last week.
Caretaker boss David Unsworth oversaw the 5-1 home loss to Atalanta in the Europa League before seeing his side dismantled by Southampton on Sunday as they were defeated 4-1 at St. Mary’s.
Football Insider Verdict
Everton’s link to Rangnick was never really seemed a solid one, but the fact that Leipzig moved to give him a new contract suggests that there definitely may have been some interest coming out of Merseyside. Moshiri is a very ambitious owner so it’s likely that he would have splashed the big bucks to try and snap up the German, who is very highly-rated after guiding both Leipzig and Hoffenheim to the Bundesliga during his time as manager. He has never been in a job outside of Germany though and a club like Everton could really do with someone who is a short-term fix rather than a long-term legacy builder. Allardyce now seems like that man if the odds are anything to go by.
