Everton fans react on Twitter as senior man is injured on international duty
By Amir Mir
Everton have suffered an injury blow after experienced defender Phil Jagielka was withdrawn from the England squad to face Malta and Slovenia- and supporters on Twitter were hoping the injury is not too serious.
The club’s official Twitter account revealed on Friday morning that centre-back Jagielka has picked up a thigh injury while on international duty.
The thigh injury isn't thought to be too serious and Jags will return to Everton to be assessed.

Everton supporters asked who they thought will replace the 34-year-old for the visit to Manchester City on October 15, if he is not fit for the clash against Pep Guardiola’s side.
One fan simply stated that he would like to see academy youngster Mason Holgate play alongside Ashley Williams at the heart of the club’s defence.
But others were annoyed that players keep getting injured while on international duty, with supporters questioning the point of international fixtures during the season.

#EFC defender Phil Jagielka has pulled out of the England squad with a thigh injury. Who should start at centre back?

Would be better if we stopped allowing our players to join up with that pointless squad of clowns.

That's one of the reasons I hate EFC players playing internationally. Always club over country!! https://t.co/JHrgrVMGOk

Jagielka has featured in all seven of his sides Premier League encounters this season alongside new signing Williams or Argentina international Ramiro Funes Mori.
The Toffees will be looking to continue their impressive run of form against league leaders City after the international break.
The Merseyside club are currently fifth in the league table, with 14 points, as Jagielka’s influence on the defence has seen them concede just five goals in seven domestic encounters.
