Brendan Rodgers drops hint over potential Celtic summer signings
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has hinted that the club won’t go on a major singing spree in the summer, as the type of players that want to sign for the Scottish champions is unlikely to change any time soon.
Rodgers has admitted that he wants to make improvements to his squad, but that only a certain type of player will come to play in the Scottish Premiership.
“You have to look to be better, you have to look to improve your standards, the standards the players are setting are obviously very high, so there’s only a certain type of player that we are able to afford, and there’s availability as well,” he said, as quoted on Sky Sports Scotland Twitter account.

The Hoops’ biggest signing of last season was midfielder Olivier Ntcham who was bought from Manchester City for £4.5million and has proved to be an excellent purchase.
Football Insider verdict
It looks like the Hoops boss is getting the fans ready to let them know that the Bhoys won’t be spending huge sums of money on players in the summer. Spending big money has never really been what the Hoops have ever been about, which is why their record transfer fee was 16 years ago, with the £6million signing of John Hartson. Of course, if the Bhoys want to make the signing of Odsonne Edouard a permanent one they might well have to smash their transfer record for that, and it will be interesting to see if the Hoops pursuit the player in the summer. The Hoops will have to spend money if they want to improve their performances in the Champions League if they want to avoid the sort of heavy defeats which have been common in their last two appearances in the Group Stages, and that is an area which Rodgers should spend big on the summer.
