Arsenal face a difficult trip to Germany on Tuesday night when they take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Despite winning their last game, the Gunners simply have not turned up to big games this term and will be looking to end that against Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Football Insider identifies the three players that should be axed for the round of 16 tie at the Allianz Arena.
Mesut Ozil – The German playmaker is a liability to the team and without him Arsene Wenger’s side would perform much better. His four goals in the CL have come against Ludogorets and added to that he has not turned up to big games, away trips to Everton, Manchester City/United and Chelsea are examples of that. Lucas Perez should replace him in the side as he would add that much-needed pace through the middle, especially on the counter.
Francis Coquelin – The Frenchman has not been up to scratch in recent matches and should be replaced in the side by the returning Mohamed Elneny. Wenger could do with some fresh pair of legs in the middle of the park and the Egyptian would provide that over his out-of-form teammate.
Alex Iwobi – Danny Welbeck simply needs to start in Germany and Iwobi would be the fall guy. The academy product has shown great attacking threat this term, though he does need to add consistency to his game. On the other hand, Welbeck has looked lively whenever he has played and would provide Wenger with attacking threat and the defensive work rate when going back.
