'A shame' - Sutton fears bombshell Celtic exit of big-match specialist in rave review
Celtic legend Chris Sutton has revealed that he thinks Tom Rogic might move on from Celtic in the summer.
The Australian midfielder, who has become a big-game specialist for the Hoops with the winner in last season’s Scottish Cup Final and four goals against Rangers this season, has not signed a new contract with the Hoops, even though his deal runs out at the end of next season.
Sutton, writing in his column in the Daily Record, believes that although it would be a blow to Hoops fans if he left in the summer, supporters would never forget the contribution made by the 25-year-old to the Bhoys recent run of success.
“There is no one in the Scottish game with his touch. His feet are like tissue paper in terms of softness when taking the ball and like a blur when he’s moving it out of them” Sutton said, eulogising the qualities that the player has, before moving on to discussing the player’s future.
“Rogic has also become a master of the big occasion with crucial goals in important wins over Rangers at Ibrox.
“It will be a shame for Celtic if he moves on after the World Cup but, even if he does, no one can take away his contribution to this success.”

Rogic will be one of the few Hoops players to feature in the World Cup this summer, and as Sutton says there is a good chance that his future will not be decided until after then.

Getting Rogic tied down on a new deal has to be the top priority this summer for Brendan Rodgers and the Hoops board. As Sutton says in his article, the skills that Rogic possesses are unmatched in Scottish football, and his goalscoring ability has taken his game to a new level. No doubt there will be clubs in the lower end of the Premier League that are interested in signing the player, but the Hoops can put an end to any talk of Rogic leaving by agreeing a new deal as soon as possible, as if he leaves in the summer the Bhoys will find it extremely difficult to replace a player that has the talent that he has.
