Aaron Wan-Bissaka hits transfer ‘sweet spot’ as Everton target West Ham star in £10m deal

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a sensible signing for David Moyes as Everton continue to recover from previous financial issues.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the West Ham full-back is a safe deal for such a low transfer fee this summer.

The Toffees’ transfers during Farhad Moshiri’s reign at Goodison Park often left supporters disappointed, but there is a newfound hope under The Friedkin Group on Merseyside.

Everton are still feeling the financial impacts of the previous owners’ actions, but that shouldn’t affect Moyes’ transfer plans this summer, even if it does mean targeting players like Wan-Bissaka.

West Ham need to raise £100million in player sales after being relegated to the Championship, and the Toffees could take advantage of the situation, eyeing up their star right-back on a £10million deal.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “I think he’s a decent enough player, and I think for a player under contract, you don’t tend to pay less than about £10m. That seems to be it these days.

“That’s pretty much the base fee for any of these players. I think it sounds fine. I’m just not sure how good he is. I think he had an okay season, but I don’t think he was incredible.

“Everton are still restrained financially until they can start to develop consistent revenue from the new stadium and rebuild from the difficulties that they’ve had.

“I think they’ll continue to be cautious whilst also trying to build the squad, and this fits right within that sweet spot. If you buy a player, an established player, for £10m, it’s an easy purchase, isn’t it?”

Which other West Ham stars are being eyed by the Toffees?

Wan-Bissaka is not the only player attracting interest at the London Stadium, with Jarrod Bowen, Crysencio Summerville, Taty Castellanos and Konstantinos Mavropanos expected to depart.

Football Insider also understands that Everton are working on a deal for El Hadji Malick Diouf, who has impressed on the opposite side of the field to Wan-Bissaka this season.

Bowen is also massively appreciated at Hill Dickinson, and given his past with Moyes, it would not be a huge surprise to see him make a switch across the Premier League after suffering relegation.

The Toffees have a chance to take full advantage of the Hammers’ Championship status, but signing Wan-Bissaka on a £10million seems like the most sensible move, especially given their side’s weaknesses.
