'Absolutely unbelievable' - Exclusive: Bent blown away by West Ham 25-yr-old v Watford

Darren Bent admits he was blown away by West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek in the Hammers’ 3-1 win over Watford.

The former Tottenham and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, was left head over heels with what he saw from the 25-year-old on Friday night.

Soucek scored the Irons’ second goal after Michail Antonio’s opener through a diving header at the far post.

Bent was left raving over the Czech Republic international’s goal and insists he has stepped up his performances when the Irons have needed it most.

Bent told Football Insider: “What a header that was, what a header, what an absolutely unbelievable header. He’s done so well, Soucek, so well.

“He’s scored big goals for them, massive, massive, massive goals for them and he’s another one I’d sign up quickly because he has done so well. Important goals when they needed him.

“He stepped up, he’s been unlucky in certain situations as well because there’s been goals that have been ruled out, that have been taken off him. He’s been fantastic and these players have stepped up when they really needed to.”

Soucek has now scored three goals in 11 appearances for the Hammers, with all of his strikes coming since the Premier League restart.

He is on loan from Slavia Prague but the Irons have an option to make the move permanent this summer.
