Adam Idah sends message to James Forrest after Celtic contract announcement
Adam Idah has congratulated James Forrest after it was announced that he had signed a new one-year contract extension at Celtic.
Forrest’s existing contract was due to expire at the end of this season, but he will now stay on at Parkhead until next summer.
The 34-year-old is Celtic’s most decorated player and has the opportunity to add a 27th trophy to his cabinet by helping the club to Premiership glory this season.
Idah left Celtic to join Swansea City for around £6million last summer, but has struggled for form upon his return to the Championship.
His sale massively boosted Celtic’s transfer outlay, and he has now reached out to his former teammate on social media.

Forrest has struggled to impact Celtic’s fortunes this season, but did provide an assist off the bench in their 6-2 Scottish Cup semi-final drubbing of St Mirren last weekend.
Idah scored 20 goals in 53 games for the Hoops last term, but has only found the net four times in 25 appearances for Swansea so far.
| Date | Fixture |
| 25 April | Falkirk (H) |
| 3 May | Hibernian (a) |

| 13 May | Motherwell (a) |
| 16 May | Hearts (H) |
The pair featured 38 times and combined for two goals together at Celtic between February 2024 and September 2025, with Idah now congratulating Forrest on his new contract.
He commented three heart-eyes emojis under the Hoops’ announcement of the 34-year-old’s new deal on Instagram to show some support to his former teammate.
Selling Idah has been slammed as a mistake by a Celtic legend
Idah undoubtedly divided fans’ opinions during his time at Parkhead, but they have failed to replace his strong scoring record with the strikers signed to replace him this season.
The 25-year-old bagged 29 times in 76 games across two spells at the club, with the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Tomas Cvancara, Daizen Maeda and Junior Adamu each struggling for goals as it stands.
Hoops legend Pat Bonner criticised his sale in an interview with BBC Radio Scotland earlier this week, saying:
They sold Adam Idah, looking back on it now, that was probably a mistake. But they were getting decent money for him.
“(He was sold for) £6million…did they spend £9million? So they got their money back. They went for the money rather than thinking about what they are going to do going forward.”
