Adam Virgo: This is who Leeds need to sign in the summer
By Danny Wright
Channel 5 pundit Adam Virgo believes that Leeds need to sign attacking players in the summer to mount a successful attempt at promotion to the Premier League.
Virgo, 34, has highlighted a number of key players in Garry Monk’s squad, but thinks that top goal scorer Chris Wood needs a lot more support next season.
The former Brighton and Celtic defender is impressed with the way that Monk has brought stability to Elland Road, but after their play-off bid was all-but ended on Saturday, he has already began to highlight areas to improve in the transfer window.
“I think Garry’s done a really good job and the most important thing he’s done for Leeds is getting them stable again,” said Virgo on Channel 5’s Football on 5: The Championship on Saturday night.
“[Kyle] Bartley’s been excellent, [Pontus] Jansson’s been excellent, Rob Green’s had a fantastic season and Chris Wood.

“You probably need a little bit more support in that final third in terms of goals.”
Leeds came from three goals behind to earn a 3-3 draw with Norwich on Saturday thanks to goals from Wood, Bartley and Pablo Hernandez.
The Yorkshire club finish the season against Wigan next week and could still mathematically finish in the play-off places.
However to do so they would require a win, a Fulham loss and a 14 goal swing in goal difference to seal a sixth-place finish – which is highly unlikely to happen.
The DW Stadium will play host to the Whites’ final game of what has been a largely successful campaign.
Wigan’s relegation from the second-tier was confirmed on Saturday as they lost to Reading.
In other Leeds news, Monk has outlined the changes needed to his squad in the summer.
