Liverpool attacker Bobby Adekanye is in advanced talks to join Lazio after rejecting a new contract at the Premier League giants, Football Insider understands.

The Dutch youth international is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season and has attracted interest from clubs including Barcelona and Willem II.

A Lazio source has told Football Insider that the Serie A club are in pole position to secure the signing of the 20-year-old forward and are working on sealing a deal before the summer window opened.

Adekanye has decided to quit Liverpool on a Bosman summer free after rejecting a new three-year deal offered by the club in recent weeks.

The Nigeria-born youngster, who has been capped by Holland at Under-20 levels, has been frozen out of the Liverpool Under-23s side during his contract stalemate after being a regular starter in the first half of the season.

He is predominantly a right-sided forward but has also played on the left flank and as the attack spearhead for Liverpool's youth teams.
