Agbonlahor '100 per cent' sure on Antonio Conte contract after Tottenham update

Gabriel Agbonlahor is adamant Antonio Conte will want to stay at Tottenham until he wins a trophy.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa forward suggested the 53-year-old would openly put pen to paper on a new deal at the club.

As quoted by Football.London (31 July), Conte doesn’t foresee any problems in staying at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for “many years”.

The Italian said he is “happy” at the London club and “working well” with the players.

Conte has another season remaining on his current deal with the Lilywhites.

There is also the option of a further year if both sides agree.

When asked if he thought Conte could stay at Tottenham long-term, Agbonlahor told Football Insider: “I think 100%.

I feel that he’s that sort of manager who’s going to want to stay there and he will want to win the title with Spurs. He is not the sort of manager who will be happy with Champions League football, happy with third place, happy with top four.

Conte is a manager who wants to win trophies, he wants to win league titles. So his goal is to build a squad that’s good enough to challenge the top two.

Do I think they’re there yet? No I don’t, I still think they need a better right-back, maybe another defender. They’re not far off. This time next year they might be going into next season as title contenders.
