Agbonlahor: Aston Villa tipped to sign Leon Bailey ally as 'concrete' interest revealed in 'A-list star'
Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Aston Villa to sign a player like Leon Bailey to play on the other wing.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer admitted Steven Gerrard has left the squad light on wingers.
Sources told Football Insider earlier this month (11 November) that Aston Villa have set their sights on signing an A-list forward in January.
Bailey has been one of Aston Villa’s standout players this season and has five goal contributions in 14 Premier League appearances, including 11 starts.
Gerrard let Anwar El Ghazi, Bertrand Traore and Trezeguet leave in the summer as he preferred Philippe Coutinho and Emiliano Buendia to play as wide number eights.

“If you look at Leon Bailey, he’s been outstanding,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“If Emery’s after a similar player to Bailey for the other side of the attack, then he needs to be backed by the board and given the money.
“He’s an outstanding winger Leon Bailey and if you can get another one then Aston Villa are flying.
“Maybe Steven Gerrard has left Emery short on wingers because he didn’t like to play them.
“Maybe that is the part of the squad where Aston Villa are light, a lack of wingers.”
Aston Villa won both of their Premier League games under Emery before the break for the World Cup.
