Brendan Rodgers would be making the “worst decision you could ever make” if he left Leicester City to become the next Tottenham manager.

That is according to former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ hunt to replace Jose Mourinho.

Football Insider revealed Tottenham are planning a move for Rodgers and are hopeful of luring him from the King Power Stadium.

Sky Sports report the 48-year-old has no interest in taking the job as he believes Leicester have a chance of regularly challenging for the European places.

“Leicester have got a project there,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Leicester look like they’re going to get into the Champions League. Why would he leave Champions League football to go to Spurs?

“Spurs won’t pay him more than what Leicester are paying him as well. It just doesn’t make sense.

“It would be the worst decision you could ever make, to be honest.

“You’re talking about Spurs over the last 15 years, they’ve not won many trophies. Leicester have a chance of winning a trophy.

“Just the project Leicester have got. I’m sure if they get into the Champions League they’ll get more investment.

“I just don’t see it happening. It doesn’t make sense.

“If Brendan Rodgers is leaving Leicester it’s for Manchester United or a big club like that. He’s not going to Spurs.”

Leicester’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace cemented their position in third and are now seven points clear of West Ham in fifth.

They face Chelsea in the FA Cup final next month.
