Agbonlahor: Declan Rice showing Liverpool 'what they are missing' after West Ham offer submitted

Declan Rice is showing Liverpool exactly what they are missing in midfield, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Rice will attract interest from across Europe if he continues his fine form at the World Cup.

Sources told Football Insider earlier this week (23 November) that West Ham expect their captain to sign for a Champions League club regardless of how they perform this season.

He has rejected a number of new contract offers with his current terms set to expire in the summer of 2024 but the club have the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.

This site revealed on Monday (21 November) that Liverpool are watching Rice’s performances at the World Cup and want to see how he copes with the pressure on the biggest stages.

It is understood that Jurgen Klopp is a “huge” admirer of the 23-year-old.

“Declan Rice, for me, was very good against Iran,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“It’s not just Bellingham, it’s other players. This is definitely a chance and a platform to show how big of a player he is, how good of a player he is.

“He can attract interest from the big clubs in Europe. He’s not going to stay at West Ham beyond this season, for me.

“If he can show Liverpool what they are maybe missing and other teams in Europe, maybe Chelsea as well.

“I think this is a great chance for Declan Rice to show what he’s capable of. He’s an outstanding player and I’m sure he’ll continue to show that.”

Rice has played 215 times across all competitions for West Ham, scoring 11 goals and providing 12 assists.

He was made club captain in the summer after the retirement of Mark Noble.
