Gabby Agbonlahor has told Everton to sign a new winger and number 10 in the mould of Jack Grealish or James Maddison if they are to progress next season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa and England striker claimed the Toffees need a young left-footed right-winger and a replacement for Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month the club are willing to offload Sigurdsson this summer despite his fine form this season.

It comes as owner Fahad Moshiri pumped in another £200million into the club to increase his stake in Everton to 92.2 per cent.

Asked which areas of the Everton squad need to be improved, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Another winger.

“Richarlison on the left is good and Dominic Calvert-Lewin through the middle is very good.

“They could do with a left-footed winger cutting in from the right. They haven’t really got that.

“I know James Rodriguez is there, but if they could bring in another quick one it could add a lot to their counter-attack. Maybe someone younger.

“Maybe even a younger number 10, Sigurdsson is getting on a little bit now.

“Maybe someone fresher like Leicester have got in James Maddison and Villa have got in Jack Grealish.

“They need that sort of player – they haven’t really had one since Ross Barkley left.”

Everton spent big last summer with the additions of Rodriguez, Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ben Godfrey.

All four have impressed this season but Rodriguez has not featured since the end of February and will turn 30 in July.

In other news, a top pundit has claimed Everton’s top-four hopes have been shattered after a “brilliant” player is ruled out for the season.
