Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos will be “sulking” after he did not feature in their 8-0 thrashing of Hamilton Academical.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley, the former England and Villa striker backed Steven Gerrard’s decision that shows no player is bigger than the club.
The Colombian was left on the bench at Ibrox as Kemar Roofe and Jermain Defoe led the line with Roofe grabbing a brace.
It was the fourth Scottish Premiership game the 24-year-old has not featured in for the Light Blues this season, already one more game than he missed last season.
And Agbonlahor believes he will not be happy after failing to secure an exit during the transfer window.
He told Football Insider: “Steven Gerrard has played under so many managers I know for a fact he’s not going to let any player dictate what team he plays.
“You look at the team that Rangers played, Roofe, Defoe, and Kent with Morelos on the bench and not brought on, it shows that Gerrard trusts these other players to perform for him.
“On the negative side of that, I’m not sure Morelos will be showing the attitude the manager wants.
“I can picture Morelos, he’ll be sulking that he’s not starting every game for Rangers because he had a few teams looking to sign him and he didn’t make the move.
“So it’s good from the manager to show you that no one’s bigger than the club and you’re only going to play if you work hard.
“It shows to all the other players that even if you’re one of the better players if you don’t show me that if you’re not going to work hard and be a team player you’re not going to play.
“So I’m sure Morelos has a lot to do to get back into that side.”
