Liverpool manager

Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool players do not trust goalkeeper Adrian.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley, the former Aston Villa and England striker delivered his verdict after the 33-year-old was leapfrogged by Caoimhin Kelleher in Klopp’s pecking order.

The 22-year-old has stepped up in recent weeks at Anfield in the absence of first-choice Alisson Becker.

He was handed his Champions League debut last Tuesday and his Premier League bow on Sunday and kept clean sheets on both occasions.

Football Insider revealed the Irishman has leapfrogged Adrian in the pecking order because of his ability to play out from the back and make key saves.

He is set to be offered a new big-money deal after his performances led to Liverpool ending their pursuit of a new number two in January.

“I think Kelleher has done well,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider.

“Adrian is not trusted by the Liverpool defence, he’s not trusted by the manager, the players. He’s not very good with his feet.

“I’m sure Jurgen Klopp would have been looking in the academy and the Under-23s for a goalkeeper.

“He gave this guy a chance and he did very well in the game against Ajax and he’s given him another chance in the Premier League and he did very well against Wolves.

“Any club now, it doesn’t matter what position you are, if you’re a young player you’re going to get a chance.

“I’m sure Kelleher will be happy with his performances and I’m sure Jurgen Klopp will be happy with his performances.”

In other Liverpool news, Klopp has been backed to sell a hero “absolutely loved by fans” in January.
