Agbonlahor: Hause tipped to start for Aston Villa after confirmed team news

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Kortney Hause to replace Axel Tuanzebe in the Aston Villa starting XI against Man United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer backed Dean Smith to continue with his three-at-the-back formation.

Aston Villa have lined up in a 3-5-2 formation for their past two Premier League games – the 3-0 loss to Chelsea and the win over Everton with the same scoreline.

Tuanzebe has started in defence alongside Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa with Matty Cash and Matt Targett operating as wing-backs.

However, Tuanzebe is unavailable for Saturday’s early kick-off as he is on a season-long loan deal from Man United.

Hause started alongside Tuanzebe at Stamford Bridge in the Carabao Cup this week and Agbonlahor has tipped him to retain his place against Man United.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “The formation only really worked against Everton when Leon Bailey came on.

“I’m not sure if he was at wing-back or they changed the formation.

“When Bailey came on, it sort of changed things and they looked more threatening. But before that, they looked comfortable.

“I think it will mean Hause will come in. You play Konsa on the right, Hause in the middle and Mings on the left of a back three. I think he’s a good replacement.

“They will stick with that formation.”

Hause has started just three Premier League games this calendar year.

The 26-year-old played the full 90 minutes against Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Chelsea at the end of last season after an injury to Cash saw Konsa moved to right-back.

In other news, an Aston Villa sensation is set for a big pay hike and a deal could be done by 1 January.
