Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Man United shouldn't sign Mason Mount this summer as Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen and Jadon Sancho are all better players.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 24-year-old Chelsea star should join Liverpool due to their sparse current options in midfield.

According to The Guardian (9 March), Mount has joined Man United's list of midfield targets ahead of the summer window.

Football Insider revealed on 4 March that the England international is keen to play for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool - who are also interested in his services, alongside Italian giants Juventus.

Mount is out of contract at Chelsea in less than 18 months and talks between player and club are deadlocked as he demands parity with the club's highest earners.

He has managed three goals and six assists in 32 appearances as a regular starter this term.

When asked if Mount could be a good value addition for Ten Hag, Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I don’t think so at all.

“I keep hearing this – Mason Mount to Man United. The only club that could do with him, and could get him, is Liverpool – he could fit into that Wijnaldum role.

“They need a couple of quality midfielders because they are working with a blank canvas.

"You can put him next to Jude Bellingham.

“But Man United don’t need him at all. They’ve got Eriksen, Fernandes – even Sancho to play a similar role.

"All three are better than Mount, there’s no doubt about it.”
