Agbonlahor issues verdict on Aston Villa sealing mega-money Dusan Vlahovic deal

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Aston Villa should “steer clear” of signing Dusan Vlahovic amid concerns about his ability to adapt to life in the Premier League.

The former Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the money involved would make a deal for the 23-year-old tough to do for his old side.

Sources told this site on Sunday (7 May) that Aston Villa are preparing to make a move to sign Juventus star Vlahovic this summer.

The Midlands giants are keeping a close eye on the striker – who could push to leave Turin in the off-season.

Villa owners Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris are ready to back Unai Emery with another bumper transfer kitty this summer.

Emery’s side could have European football to lure targets to Villa Park if they can finish the 2022-23 campaign strongly.

Vlahovic has scored 22 goals in 59 games since joining Juventus for a reported £66.6million in January 2022.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “It’s difficult to judge because he showed he was a top player at Fiorentina.

“But he’s gone to Juventus and it hasn’t worked for him.

“He was wanted by Arsenal, but I’m sure they’re now glad that he didn’t want to sign for them.

“He doesn’t quite look like he’s taken that extra step.

“If he’s struggling in Italy – how will he cope in the Premier League? It’s so much harder.

“I think this is one for Aston Villa to steer clear of, especially with the money involved. Look at someone else.”
