Agbonlahor: Jack Harrison ready to quit Leeds United for double-your-money Newcastle United deal
Jack Harrison will not sign a new contract at Leeds United because he can earn more than double his current wage at Newcastle United, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Harrison will want to sign a “big” contract at Newcastle like Dan Burn and Kieran Trippier.
The 25-year-old has entered the final two years of his Leeds contract and was the subject of transfer interest from the Magpies in the summer.
The northeast giants had multiple offers, including a bid in excess of £25million, turned down by the Whites.
The Northern Echo reported on Tuesday (20 September) that Leeds are ready to open talks and push through a new deal before the January transfer window.
Asked whether Harrison will want a release clause in a potential new contract, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It’s more than that.

“It’s ‘Can I go and get double-and-a-half my money at Newcastle? Or, sign for a little bit more at Leeds?’
“Leeds won’t be big payers. Maybe, he’s looking at that.
“Football, yes, you love playing at clubs but you want to be earning as much money as possible.
“Maybe that’s going through his mind. He’ll see Dan Burn, Trippier and all these players going for big money wages and thinking of that himself.
“I don’t think he signs a new contract unless Leeds improve his pay a lot.”
Harrison has 17 goals and 12 assists in 77 Premier League games for Leeds.
He already has four goal contributions in six top-flight appearances this term.
