Agbonlahor tells Leeds 'to be very careful' after worrying Bielsa reveal

Leeds United could suffer from “second season syndrome” and be sucked into a relegation battle, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Leeds will find it difficult to beat Newcastle United this evening and backed a draw.

The Whites are yet to win in the Premier League this season and sit fourth from bottom ahead of Friday night’s clash.

Newcastle are also winless and have only picked up one point so far this term.

Leeds are in the middle of a defensive crisis ahead of the trip to St. James’ Park.

Marcelo Bielsa revealed in his pre-match press conference that Robin Koch and Diego Llorente will miss the game with injury while Pascal Struijk will serve the first of a three-game suspension.

It means Liam Cooper is Marcelo Bielsa’s only available senior centre-back.

And therefore Agbonlahor has tipped the two sides to share the points tonight.

“Leeds need to be very careful of second season syndrome,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Both teams need a win. Newcastle haven’t won this season. They’re at home, they’re going to be up for it. This won’t be an easy game for Leeds.

“It’s got a draw written all over it.

“There’s a good chance of Leeds being in a relegation battle, definitely. They need to be careful.”

Leeds did the double over Newcastle last season and scored seven times in the two games.

They won 5-2 at Elland Road last December before running out 2-1 winners at St. James’ Park in January.
