Agbonlahor makes 'exciting' Bailey prediction after what he's 'been told' at Aston Villa

Gabby Agbonlahor wants Leon Bailey to start games for Aston Villa as soon as possible.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer insisted Bailey’s killer pace will excite the Aston Villa faithful.

The Jamaica international scored his first goal and provided the cross for Lucas Digne’s own goal in Villa’s 3-0 win over Everton at the weekend.

It was just his third appearance from the season, all from the bench, as he struggled with an injury earlier on in the campaign.

Bailey was substituted 20 minutes after coming on against Everton.

As quoted by the Independent, he revealed he had a quad issue and was replaced as a precaution with a busy schedule ahead.

“For me, what excites me and what will excite the Villa fans is his pace that pace kills,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Our quickest player has probably been [Ollie] Watkins but Bailey is just rapid.

“For his goal, he didn’t even look like he’s sprinting. Ben Godfrey couldn’t get anywhere near him.

“He’s exciting, he’s got crazy pace and that’s what Villa fans want to see. That’s what excites people.

“When I played, that’s what Villa fans said to me, I was told that my pace got people off their seats. That’s what fans want.

“It’s exciting and I hope his injury is not too bad so he can get himself back fit and starting games.”

Bailey moved to Aston Villa for Bayer Leverkusen for a £25million fee in the summer.

The 24-year-old has now scored once and provided an assist in three Premier League games.

In other news, Aston Villa have been tipped to hold an internal review after a major controversy.
