Agbonlahor: Man City 'would love' to sign William Saliba as Arsenal talks confirmed

Man City “would love” to sign William Saliba from Arsenal, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Arsenal should do everything they can to secure Saliba to a new contract before the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old has impressed immensely after starting all eight of the Gunners’ Premier League games this season but has less than two years left on his contract.

As quoted by the London Evening Standard earlier this week (3 October), Saliba remained coy about how far negotiations over a new deal had progressed.

However, the France international confirmed that the club had opened talks with his agent over an extension.

“Arsenal should be giving him the money he wants and the length of contract that he wants,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He’s going to be the most sought-after centre-half in the world.

“He’s comfortable on the ball, he’s quick, he’s strong, he’s good in the air and he can score a goal. He’s a player that Arsenal really need to keep a hold of.

“The likes of Chelsea, Man United, even Man City would love to have him.

“They need to make sure they don’t do what they have done in the past and lost all the best players to Man City and other teams.

“Tie him down to a long-term contract. For me, before January is when I would get that signed. Give him a five-year deal and hopefully, he signs.

“He’s an outstanding centre-half and he’s going to be the reason Arsenal finish in the top two this season.”

In other news, Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle on a £52million player contract.
