Agbonlahor: My sources tell me this is reason for Howe announcement delay by Celtic
Gabby Agbonlahor has heard from his sources that John Kennedy is expected to join Eddie Howe in the Celtic dugout next season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England striker suggested negotiations over coaching staff may mean Howe has not jumped at the chance to move to Parkhead.
As revealed by Football Insider, interim boss Kennedy has been kept in the dark about a raft of imminent changes at the club.
The 37-year-old is even unsure about his own future at the club where he has spent the majority of his professional career.
Howe reached a verbal agreement with Celtic back in March but they have also assessed alternative candidates Lucian Favre and Roy Keane.
Asked whether Kennedy’s position means he may leave at the end of the season, the well connected TV and radio pundit Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “At Celtic, I’ve heard this from sources, someone like Kennedy, the new manager won’t have a choice on keeping him.

“Managers that come in can’t bring in four, five or six coaches. They can bring in maybe two and the club decides whether Kennedy stays. They can’t change the whole coaching staff like most clubs do.
“I do think they’ll keep him around because he’s been there with a lot of managers, he knows the club inside out.
“That might be the reason that Eddie Howe doesn’t favour the job so we’ll have to wait and see.”
Howe has been out of work since leaving Bournemouth at the end of last season.
The 43-year-old oversaw 454 games in charge of the Cherries across two spells.
