Rangers should not offer Ryan Kent a new contract, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Kent has not been good enough this season and the new manager may want to sign an upgrade.

The 26-year-old will be out of contract at Ibrox at the end of the current campaign.

Sources told Football Insider last week (16 November) that the club are making fresh attempts to secure him to a new deal.

This site revealed last at the beginning of last month (1 October) that Kent has rejected a lucrative new contract offer because he wanted a move to the Premier League.

The winger will be able to negotiate with foreign clubs in January before he is able to leave for nothing in the summer.

"I just don't think that he deserves a new contract," Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

"His performances haven't been great, he's not been performing and assisting like he has done in previous seasons.

"I think Rangers would be silly to offer him a new contract.

"They need to look for new players. If a new manager comes in, like Michael Beale, he might have his own views on who he wants to sign.

"I wouldn't rush into that at all."

Kent has scored once and provided six assists in 22 games across all competitions this season.

All seven of his goal contributions have come in 13 Scottish Premiership appearances, including 12 starts.
