Agbonlahor shares 'massive' Ramsey verdict after 'outstanding' Aston Villa reveal

Jacob Ramsey is almost undroppable for Aston Villa, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer delivered his verdict after Ramsey continued his fine start to the season against Chelsea at the weekend.

The 20-year-old completed 100 per cent of his passes at Stamford Bridge – no other player who started was as accurate, according to sofascore.

Leon Bailey replaced the 20-year-old just before the hour mark as Villa changed shape to try and force a goal as they were 2-0 down.

As quoted by Birmingham Live, Dean Smith insisted he now looks a “real athlete” who is at home in the Premier League.

And Agbonlahor has echoed the Villa boss’ thoughts.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Jacob Ramsey was outstanding for me [against Chelsea], the best player in a Villa shirt.

“I wouldn’t even be able to pick the team now because Jacob Ramsey deserves to start for the performance he put in at the weekend.

“It’s a massive selection headache for Dean Smith now.

“But that can only be a positive for Aston Villa going forward. It will be a good test now against Everton because they are flying.

“There’s plenty of options now if players aren’t performing. If they don’t perform, they know their position will be filled.”

Ramsey featured in 22 Premier League games, including six starts, in a breakout campaign last season.

The midfielder earned his first call up to the England Under-21 squad in the recent international break but had to pull out of the squad.
