Agbonlahor shares verdict on Aston Villa accepting 'crazy' Emiliano Martinez offer from Premier League giants
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted it would take a “crazy” offer for Aston Villa to even consider parting with goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez in the summer window.
The former Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, urged the 30-year-old to satisfy his desire for trophies and Champions League football by staying at Villa Park.
According to Argentinan journalist Gaston Edul (11 May), Martinez is “likely” to leave Aston Villa amid interest from Man United, Chelsea and Tottenham.
Edul claims there is no release clause in the shot-stopper’s contract at Villa Park, which earns him a reported £120,000-a-week and runs until June 2027.
The World Cup winner has turned out 34 times across all competitions this season, conceding 36 goals and keeping 13 clean sheets.
Martinez, who joined Aston Villa from Arsenal in 2020, has even worn the captain’s armband for Unai Emery’s side on several occasions this term.

When asked if his old side should listen to offers for the goalkeeper this summer, Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I wouldn’t, no.
“Unless they’ve got a release clause, the Villa owners won’t want to sell anyone.
“Martinez has been outstanding – and it’s understandable that he’s hungry for trophies and Champions League football after winning the World Cup.
“But I’m sure a manager like Emery can persuade him to do it with Aston Villa. He’s on a long-term contract.
“I don’t think Villa will listen to offers. Unless it’s a ridiculous offer of £50-60million, something crazy – I can’t see it happening.”
