Agbonlahor slams five Wolves stars after 'awful' reveal

All five of Wolves’ defenders have been nowhere near the required standard this season, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker after Bruno Lage’s side continued their poor start to the campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Brentford at the weekend.

The Midlands giants have won just once and kept one clean sheet this term – a 2-0 victory over Watford earlier this month.

They currently sit 16th in the Premier League, just a point above the relegation places.

According to FBRef, Wolves have made just 43 blocks – the least of any Premier League table.

They have blocked just nine shots, the joint-fewest in the division with Brentford, and zero shots on target.

“I watched the game and Wolves were absolutely miles off it, they were nowhere near it,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“The five defenders could have all been subbed. Coady was awful, Marcal was off, Saiss was awful. Kilman and Semedo too. It was like they had never played with each other before.

“The midfielders have got no legs, they’re good on the ball. But in the Premier League, you need at least one of your two centre-midfielders to have legs. Wolves did not have that. They need someone who can get about the pitch and win the ball back.

“It was too easy for Brentford at the weekend. Wolves are struggling.”

Wolves continue their Premier League campaign with a trip to Southampton this weekend.

Before that, they host Nuno Espirito Santo’s Tottenham in the Carabao Cup third round.
