Gabriel Agbonlahor has slammed the Leeds United display against Aston Villa but predicted they will beat West Ham on Monday.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa captain also claimed Helder Costa was “poor” against Villa but he expects him and Jack Harrison to share duties on one of the flanks for the rest of the campaign.

Harrison was dropped for the 1-0 defeat to Villa – the first game he has been available for that he has not started.

Costa instead was given the nod with summer signing Raphinha operating on the other flank.

The £16million man lost possession 10 times at Elland Road and completed just one of his four cross attempts, according to sofascore.

Asked whether he had wasted his chance to impress, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think Costa was poor but in the previous game he was good so you can’t judge him on one game.

“Harrison and Costa will probably switch it up this season.

“Leeds were just off it and if Leeds are off it by 15 or 20 per cent they struggle and they struggled against Villa.

“I’m sure they’ll be back on it in their next game against West Ham and go and win it. That’s just typical Leeds this season.

“They’ve not had the consistency. When they’re good, they’re very good but when they’re bad, they’re very bad and they were very bad against Villa.

“You have to give credit because Villa made them bad by the way they played.”

Harrison replaced Costa after 64 minutes on Saturday but failed to have a significant impact on the game.

The result meant Leeds dropped out of the top 10 while Villa kept within touching distance of the European places.
