Issa Diop and Aaron Cresswell have been "shocking" for West Ham in recent weeks and their defence may be the reason they miss out on the top-four.

That is the view of ex-Aston Villa and England attacker Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club's prospect of qualifying for the Champions League.

The Athletic reported on Thursday (13 January) the West Ham squad will share a bonus of between £8million and £10million if they can cling to a top-four place.

The Irons currently occupy fourth place but Tottenham and Arsenal have games in hand.

"Players nowadays are earning that much money that bonuses like that aren't really an incentive," Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

"Wanting to play in the Champions League is enough.

"I look at West Ham and I don't think they have enough to finish in the top four, that's what would worry me.

"It's even worse when their Europa League game restarts, they're going to be even more stretched.

"Their defence looks shocking, Diop was dreadful against Leeds, Cresswell didn't look great.

"They looked so easy to get through. To be conceding four, ok one was disallowed, against an understrength Leeds side, that's a lot to worry about.

"You look at the games in hand the other sides have, West Ham could easily finish seventh. That wouldn't be an awful season.

"I said in November West Ham had to strengthen in January and they haven't. If they don't strengthen I don't see them making the top four or even the top six.

"I still think that Spurs and Arsenal are in a better position to make the top-four than them."
