Agbonlahor tips Tottenham to sign West Brom 27-yr-old certain to quit

Gabriel Agbonlahor would not be surprised if West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone moved to a “big club” like Tottenham in the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa striker claimed the Albion will be relegated this season and Johnstone would “100 per cent” move to a Premier League club.

The 27-year-old has been a shining light in an otherwise poor West Brom side who currently sit second from bottom and 11 points adrift of safety.

Johnstone has made 93 saves this season – more than any other shot-stopper – but his efforts were not enough to stop West Brom from suffering a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham at the weekend.

The Sun reported in January Johnstone and fellow Manchester United academy graduate Dean Henderson are targets for Spurs as they sweat over the future of captain Hugo Lloris.

This site revealed last month Spurs are vulnerable to losing Lloris to PSG due to his strong relationship with Mauricio Pochettino.

Asked whether he could see Johnstone moving to a top-six Premier League club, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “West Brom will get relegated and Sam Johnstone will get a move back to the Premier League.

“He’s shown with his performances this season, the saves he’s made that he’s a top class goalkeeper. He’s really good on the ball too.

“100 per cent Sam will stay in the Premier League. It wouldn’t surprise me if a big club like Spurs went in for him as well.

“He was at Manchester United, he knows what it’s like to be at a big club and I can see that happening for sure.”

Johnstone has kept two clean sheets in 22 Premier League appearances while Lloris has kept seven in the same number of games.
