Agbonlahor: Tottenham fans will be 'embarrassed' amid latest Nuno twist

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Tottenham fans will be “embarrassed” as they prepare to start pre-season without a manager.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward admitted he would not be surprised if Nuno Espirito Santo did not take the job after another twist.

Football Insider learned on 25 June the ex-Wolves boss had agreed personal terms with Spurs but there was still key details to be agreed.

Turkish outlet Radyo Gol reported on 29 June Nuno is the favourite to take over at Super Lig club Fenerbahce.

“What it is with Nuno Espirito Santo, he’s probably spoken to Palace, spoke to Everton, spoke to Spurs and what they’re offering doesn’t interest him,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He probably wants a certain amount of backroom staff, a certain amount of money to spend. If these clubs aren’t going to give it him he’s not going to go there and do a rubbish job and have a stain on his record.

“I don’t blame him, I think he’s doing the right thing by not taking those jobs. Maybe Fenerbahce is a more suitable job for him.

“If I was a Spurs fan I’d be embarrassed. Pre-season starts on Monday and you’ve had all this time to get a manager and you haven’t got one.”

Tottenham have been managerless for over 70 days after Jose Mourinho was sacked in the middle of April.

Former midfielder Ryan Mason was placed in interim charge and oversaw the final seven Premier League games of the season and the Carabao Cup final.

In other news, Tottenham have just sealed a £7million-a-year deal running for 30 years.
