Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Tottenham will appoint an unknown quantity as their next manager.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward suggested Spurs will not be able to attract a "top manager" because of their financial situation.

The Italian will be in charge of transfer and contract negotiations as well as the hunt for the new manager.

Talks with Antonio Conte and Mauricio Pochettino collapsed last week leaving Spurs back at the square one over 50 days since Jose Mourinho was sacked.

“It might be a manager out there that we don’t know of that might get the job,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“I think that might be where Spurs go.

“We hear of these new managers who come and do well. Look at Nuno Espirito Santo at Wolves. Nobody had heard of him and he came in and did a great job.

“There are managers out there that the sporting director will know.

“I can just see Spurs are not going to give a manager loads and loads of money. Whatever manager comes in is one that will have to accept that and a top manager won’t accept that.

“It’s going to be a strange summer for Spurs.”

Paratici spent 11 years in various executive roles with Juventus before leaving this summer.

Under the 48-year-old, Spurs will return to a two-tier structure with a head coach.
