Agbonlahor: Tottenham told to sell Alderweireld and Dier after Athletic reveal
Tottenham should try and sell both Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier this summer, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward claimed “Spurs need a whole defence” next season.
The Athletic reported on 2 July that Alderwierled has told the club he wants to depart this summer.
Alderweireld and Dier both struggled to nail down a regular starting spot under Jose Mourinho last season.
Tottenham’s leaky defence conceded 45 goals last season as they finished down in seventh.
New managing director of football Fabio Paratici has moved to resolve the issue.

Football Insider revealed yesterday (16 July) Spurs have reached a total agreement for the signing of Bologna defender of Takehiro Tomiyasu.
They have submitted a £15.5million, including add-ons, for the 23-time Japan international.
Asked whether it would be the right time to part ways with Alderweireld, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think so.
“I’ve watched him a lot over the last few years and for Belgium recently and it looks like his legs have gone a bit. He’s looking a bit slower.
“I look at Alderweireld and Dier and they’re not good enough for where Spurs want to go. Spurs need a whole new defence.
“Maybe Alderweireld needs a new challenge in a different league to drive himself forward. I expect him to be sold.”
Dier, 27, has 279 Spurs games under his belt and managed 39 appearances across all competitions last term.
Meanwhile, Alderweireld played 35 times across all competitions last season and has 236 Tottenham appearances to his name.
