Agbonlahor: Traore would be the 'perfect' signing for Liverpool after Wolves latest

Adama Traore would be a “perfect” signing for Liverpool, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward insisted the winger would offer the Reds something none of the attackers can offer.

Football Insider revealed on 9 July Liverpool have told Wolves they are willing to pay £25million for Traore.

Football Insider revealed in March that the Midlands were willing to listen to offers for the 25-year-old after talks over a new contract broke down.

He has two years left to run on his current contract and negotiations over an extension stalled last October over money.

Traore endured a difficult campaign for Wolves last term as he registered just two goals and three assists in 37 Premier League games.

Asked whether the Spain international could thrive at Anfield, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes, I think it would be a good signing.

“It would give Liverpool a plan B. You saw it for Spain, he was there as an option, a plan B.

“Liverpool haven’t really got that at the moment. Liverpool’s bench is very poor at the moment. When you’re looking at [Xhederan] Shaqiri, [Divock] Origi.

“They need someone who can come on for Mane or Salah who’s different. I think Traore would be the perfect player.”

Traore has scored seven goals and provided 16 assists in 140 Premier League games across spells with Aston Villa, Middlesborough and Wolves.

He also has six international caps to his name and was part of the Spain squad at this summer’s European Championship.
