Agbonlahor urges Liverpool to complete 'perfect' Ruben Neves signing after £50m reveal
Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Liverpool must sign three new midfielders this summer if they are to get "anywhere near the Premier League title again".
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed a triple deal for Ruben Neves, Jude Bellingham and another top-class star would be a "perfect" window.
Sources told this site on Thursday (23 March) that Wolves are likely to accept an offer of £50million for Liverpool target Neves even if they avoid relegation to the Championship this season.
The Portugal international, who was the subject of an enquiry from the Merseysiders in January, has decided to pursue a new challenge at a higher level after six years at Molineux.
Neves is out of contract at the end of the 2023-24 season.
Football Insider also revealed on Tuesday (21 March) that Liverpool remain in the hunt for Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham, alongside the likes of Man City and Real Madrid.
When asked if Neves would be a worthwhile signing, Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “100%.
“I think Liverpool could do with three midfielders. Getting him, Bellingham and another would be perfect for them this summer.
“He’d be a great signing.
“It will hit them in their pocket, for sure, but they’ve got to do it. They need a fresh midfield if they want to get anywhere near the Premier League title again.
“It’s as simple as that.”
Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are set to walk away from Anfield for free when their contracts expire in June.
Meanwhile, sources have told this site (21 March) that James Milner could pen a new deal at the club if he takes a pay cut.
