Agbonlahor verdict on ex-teammate Gollini signing for Tottenham and ousting Lloris
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Pierluigi Gollini to be Hugo Lloris’ long-term replacement at Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Gollini’s ex-Aston Villa teammate suggested Lloris will leave Spurs when his contract expires next summer.
Alasdair Gold of football.london reported yesterday (19 July) Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign the Atalanta goalkeeper and his teammate Cristian Romero.
Gollini moved to Atalanta on an 18-month loan deal from Aston Villa in 2017 before the deal was made permanent the following year.
The 26-year-old has kept 38 clean sheets in 112 games across all competitions.
That includes seven shut-outs in 14 European games.

Asked whether the Italy international could challenge Lloris for the number one jersey, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “100 per cent.
“He’s a good goalkeeper, he’s very tall and good at shot-stopping.
“I just think it’s good for him. I reckon Spurs are looking at a long-term replacement for Lloris. Maybe Lloris will play this season and then they might let him go because he’s got a year left on his contract. It makes sense for both parties.
“Gollini’s a good goalkeeper and he’ll be buzzing to be back in England and the Premier League.”
Football Insider broke the news in May Lloris is set to stay at Spurs for the upcoming season.
The 34-year-old has just 12 months left on his current contract and this could be his last season for the Lilywhites.
He has kept 105 clean sheets in 373 games for Tottenham across all competitions.
