Agent: Future of Brazilian striker reportedly on Liverpool radar is "in the hands of God"
By Danny Wright
Gabriel Barbosa’s future is in the “hands of God”, according to his agent in the light of reports linking the striker with a move to Liverpool.
Wagner Ribeiro refused to rule out a summer switch from Inter Milan following the Sun’s report that Jurgen Klopp is looking to make the Brazilian part of his squad.
When his agent Ribeiro was asked by Tuttomercatoweb if Barbosa could move away from the Milan club, he said: “I do not know. The future is not in my hands, but in God’s.”
The 20-year-old has been a frustrated figure in his debut season at the San Siro and he is yet to start a single league game since his £25million switch from Santos last summer.

Despite scoring his first goal in Italy in a 1-0 win over Bologna in mid-February, Barbosa has only played 15 minutes of action in all competitions since.
In total, the exciting striker has made a meagre eight appearances in both Serie A and the Coppa Italia, amassing just 153 minutes on the pitch.
“Gabriel is an Inter player,” Ribeiro also said.
“When we chose this club we signed a contract until 2021, and it did not include specific clauses that were supposed to ensure candidates of certain game time, let alone a starting spot.
“He is happy in Milan, he will have to fight for his space. “
He is already a senior Brazil international with four caps and two goals for his nation and proved a hit with Santos as he bagged 24 goals in 83 matches as he rose through the ranks at the Brazilian giants.
Football Insider Verdict
The plight of Gabriel Barbosa is an odd one. Inter Milan obviously saw enough in him to spend £25million bringing him to the San Siro, but he hasn’t started a match and his long-term future has to be in doubt. Liverpool were interested in January but a move didn’t materialise amid comments from the Inter chief that he only wanted players that were happy at the club. Barbosa’s agent has played it pretty straight saying that his player is committed but that a move is out of his hands. That suggests that Inter might be looking to offload him – the question is, is he good enough for Liverpool? There’s a decent Brazilian connection at the club, with Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino, and Barbosa could well join their ranks come the summer.
