Fawaz Al Hasawi has taken to Twitter to deliver a final goodbye to the Nottingham Forest fans and wish his best to his successor.

Greek businessman Evangelos Marinakis completed his takeover of the East Midlands outfit earlier this week to bring to an end the Kuwati’s turbulent five-year reign.

He is now urging the Olympiakos owner to help push Forest towards the pinnacle of the English football after Mark Warburton managed to narrowly guide them away from relegation on the final day of the season.

“I wish success to the new owners and fans and hope the club realizes the dream of returning to the Premier League,” said Al Hasawi in Arabic on his personal Twitter account on Saturday.

He then responded to a Reds fan in English by saying that the club will always have a special place in his heart.

“I will be always loyal to Nottingham Forest,” he added.

The Kuwaiti businessman has been chairman at the City Ground since December 2015 after his family purchased the two-time European Cup winners several months earlier from the estate of previous owner Nigel Doughty.

A lot of rebuilding work at Forest will now need to happen to ensure they don’t come anywhere near as close to relegation as they did this season.

The 3-0 win over Ipswich on the final day of the season left Blackburn demoted to League One on goal difference.

Warburton has been in charge since March and despite managing to keep them up, Forest’s results didn’t exactly improve from Philippe Montanier and Gary Brazil’s time in charge.

In other Nottingham Forest news, Marinakis has also sent a message to the club’s fans.
