Alan Hutton: 'This is the word' coming out of Rangers camp ahead of Frankfurt showdown

“Excitement” is the word coming out of the Rangers camp ahead of Wednesday’s Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Alan Hutton.

The former Gers defender and Rangers TV pundit, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men are “confident” after beating the likes of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig on the way to Seville.

Speaking at his press conference last week (12 May), Giovanni van Bronckhorst insisted his squad are “in a good place physically and mentally” ahead of Wednesday night.

Hutton, who still has close ties inside the Ibrox dressing room, insisted there is plenty of excitement emanating from the camp.

He insisted the players should be confident after their remarkable European run.

Asked if there were any nerves or apprehension inside the Gers’ camp, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “A bit of everything. Excitement, I think excitement is the word.

“You never know if you’ll ever reach this stage ever again. So you have to grasp it with both hands.

“I think that’s the biggest thing you take out of this. It’s the old cliche of you leave everything out on the pitch but that’s what you have to do. You might never get here again.

“So it’s definitely excitement within the camp. They’re confident. They’ve played arguably tougher teams and put them to the sword as well. I don’t think they should fear them.

“Obviously, they’ll be aware that they’re a strong team. It’s no fluke getting to a final so it’s going to be difficult. They’re definitely confident that they can go all the way and beat Frankfurt.”

The Gers beat Dortmund, Red Star Belgrade, Braga and Leipzig in the knock-out stages to reach the final.
