Alex Moreno is undergoing a Nottingham Forest medical on Wednesday after agreeing a loan move, sources have told Football Insider.

Forest have had an offer of a season-long loan with an obligation to buy for the 31-year-old accepted by Aston Villa.

Moreno has been deemed surplus to requirements by Unai Emery and his staff after the £37.5 million signing of Ian Maatsen, 22, from Chelsea earlier in the transfer window.

SInce joining Villa from Spanish club Real Betis back in January 2023, Moreno has made 48 appearances and scored three goals for the Champions League club.

Emery consistently rotated left-backs last season, Moreno featured 29 times whereas Frenchman Lucas Digne played a grand total of 46 games.

It's been a busy transfer window for Nottingham Forest as they seek to improve upon their 17th-place finish last season.
