Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has cleared out his locker at Liverpool and told friends he expects to join Aston Villa, sources have told Football Insider.

The midfielder, 29, has been assessing a vast number of offers from clubs home and abroad with his Anfield contract expiring at the end of the month.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is now expected to complete a move to Villa when he becomes a free agent on 1 July.

Unai Emery is believe to have won over the midfielder with a convincing sales pitch explaining how he will fit into his improving Villa side.

The Spaniard admires Oxlade-Chamberlain's versatility, dynamism and ability to create and score goals.

Like Youri Tielemans, who completed a free transfer to Villa last Saturday, the Englishman is proven in the Premier League and capable of slotting straight into their team.

He struggled for game time at Anfield once again in the season just finished, accumulating just 13 appearances and 491 minutes in total across all competitions.

But the England international has made 235 Premier League appearances in his career, with 20 goals and 28 assists.

The wide forward is regarded as a matchwinner who can make an instant Premier League impact and there are suggestions he could be available for a move this summer.
