Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain tipped to engineer Liverpool transfer after update - Mills

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will force an exit from Liverpool this summer if he wants to revive his career, according to Danny Mills.

The former England defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 28-year-old has “everything you could possibly need from an attacking midfielder”.

As per the Daily Mail (9 May), Oxlade-Chamberlain is concerned about his future at Liverpool as he heads into the final year of his contract.

The report claims there have been no discussions over a new deal with the England international falling well down the pecking order.

The former Arsenal star has made nine league starts this term but has made just one top-flight appearance since the end of January.

Mills claimed Oxlade-Chamberlain is not likely to force his way back into the thoughts of Jurgen Klopp.

“The last few years really just haven’t worked out for him at all,” he told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.

“He’s a fantastic player. He’s got everything you could possibly need from an attacking midfielder.

“He can run at people, score goals, pick a pass. But with injuries and with the Liverpool squad as strong as it is, he just hasn’t had a chance.

“You can’t see that changing with the way they’re progressing.

“If he wants to play more football and reignite his career, he will have to move on from Liverpool. It’s simple.”

The 35-cap England star has made 133 appearances for Liverpool across five years at the club – scoring 17 goals.

He joined the Merseysiders for a reported £35million in 2017.
