The academy graduate, 22, has now committed his future to the club until the summer of 2025.

He has played 179 games across all competitions for his boyhood club and captained the side on occasion last term.

Alexander-Arnold is the latest in a long line of academy graduates who have gone on the become a strong presence in the first team.

Asked whether he can see him seeing out his career at Anfield, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: "I think he can.

"He loves Liverpool, he's a scouse lad with a strong scouse accent.

"Liverpool have given him the platform and Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world at the moment.

"It doesn't make sense for him to leave unless he falls out with the manager which I doubt would happen.

"For me, Trent Alexander-Arnold will stay there for his whole career. He won't look to move at all. He'll be buzzing to be at Liverpool and will see out his career there."
