Danny Murphy: This is what 20-year-old Tottenham ace is missing
By Emma Sanders
Danny Murphy claims the only thing Dele Alli is lacking this season is accuracy in front of goal, but the BBC pundit believes he has not hidden away during games.
The 20-year-old has been criticised this season after missing a number of chances in front of goal, despite scoring five goals in all competitions.
Alli made a breakthrough into the Tottenham first team during the 2015-16 season and became a key member of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
“The only thing that he has lacked compared to last year is accurate finishing,” said Murphy in his column in the Evening Standard, “but I have not seen him hide once. Even if he misses a couple of chances, he will continue to make the same runs until he takes one of them.”
“He is hard for midfielders to track, or for defenders to pick up when he is running towards them.”

Alli has started 14 Premier League games this season and has recorded a number of mis-placed shots on goal, with an accuracy percentage of just 53%.
However Murphy believes he shares similar qualities to Frank Lampard and praised Alli for his ability to find space and create goal-scoring opportunities.
Last season, Alli netted 10 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions before going on to win the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
The attacking midfielder is expected to start Tottenham’s clash against Southampton on Wednesday and will be hoping to produce another good performance after scoring in his last outing against Burnley.
Spurs currently sit in fifth position but are level on points with Manchester United in sixth place, though they have a game in hand going into Wednesday’s clash on the back of two successive victories.
