'Amazing' Cavani identified as the answer to Man United's problems after 'unbelievable' twist - pundit

Celtic and West Ham legend Frank McAvennie joined the Football Insider stable in June 2020 and has not disappointed with his own brand of unique punditry. He loves talking football almost as much as he loved scoring goals, and still has close links in the dressing room at Parkhead.

Frank McAvennie has told Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer to start Edinson Cavani alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims the Uruguayan is the answer to Solskjaer's problems.

Man United have only won one of their last four games despite splashing out on Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Ronaldo in the summer.

Last season, Cavani scored 17 goals in 39 games after joining the club as a free agent.

He has only made four appearances this season and has so far failed to find the back of the net.

Ronaldo has been in fine form despite his side's struggles, scoring five goals in six games so far.

McAvennie claims both players are key to turning Man United's form around.

"I have to question that," McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

"Why is he not playing Ronaldo in every game, alongside Cavani.

"Cavani was amazing last season, he really is quality. Obviously, we know how good Ronaldo is.

"They are two amazing players, streets ahead of Martial. They aren't in good form and Cavani will score you goals.

"You have to play your best players. I can't believe Ole benched Ronaldo against Everton.

"Frankly, he got what he deserves."

Man United face Leicester City after the international break.

They then welcome Atalanta to Old Trafford as they look for their first win in the Champions League this season.
