Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe for his performance against Brighton last night.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners striker applauded the 20-year-old for bucking the trend and being aggressive with his decision making against Brighton and Chelsea.

Smith-Rowe completed 92 per cent of his passes on Tuesday night in what was just his second Premier League appearance as the Gunners continued their revival with a 1-0 win at the Amex Stadium. (Wyscout)

The attacking midfielder only made his league debut against Chelsea last week, grabbing an assist in a 3-1 win which appears to have turned the tide at the Emirates.

Campbell hailed Smith Rowe for his aggression on the ball, a quality he believes too many young players lack when given their chance in the first team.

“It is great to see him in there,” he told Football Insider.

“He is making a big impact and that is really important, especially for a youngster.

“Sometimes they can come in and play safe and go through the motions but he is aggressive. He is using the ball well, taking risks and looking to hurt teams.

“He is really showing what he is about, it’s amazing.”

Speaking on his youngsters performance last night, Arteta said: “Some individual players, some were young, some senior players had a really good individual game.

“Collectively, we did what we had to do to beat a great opponent.”
