Analysis: Three Rangers players who can inspire win against Hamilton

COMMENT By Harvey Byrne

Rangers will face Hamilton Academical at the SuperSeal Stadium in the Premiership on Friday evening.

It is a clash which sees second take on eighth and one that the famous Ibrox side will be eager to win.

It is doubtful that the Gers can win the league with Celtic nine points clear having played two matches less, but with Aberdeen hot on their heels in third Rangers will have to be on top of their game.

Here, Football Insider analyses the three Rangers who will be key to the Scottish giants picking up a vital three points:

Joe Garner

The 28-year-old has struggled at Rangers since his summer move from Championship side Preston.

However, with the Ibrox side expected to work a lot of chances against Hamilton his finishing could be the difference between a win and a draw.

The combative forward has scored just three goals in 18 appearances for Mark Warburton’s side, but the clash on Friday could be the one to kick start his career.

Barrie McKay

The one-time capped Scotland international will likely play wide of an attacking midfield three against Hamilton.

He will be looking to supply forward Garner with some quality through balls, while looking to get on the score sheet himself.

The young starlet has the ability to earn his side all three points in the encounter and he already has nine assists and two goals in 23 appearances in all competitions this season.

Andy Halliday

Rangers will be expecting to have the majority of the possession in the clash and it is up to midfielder Halliday to ensure that they do.

The 25-year-old combative midfielder has been a rock in Warburton’s side this campaign, playing in 24 fixtures in all competitions.

He will be key to stopping Hamilton from working any chances, while also helping his side to move up the pitch.
