Andoni Iraola to delay decision on accepting Crystal Palace manager’s job

Andoni Iraola will only be keen on the idea of a move to Crystal Palace if they qualify for the Europa League next season, sources have told Football Insider.

The departing Bournemouth manager is set to have plenty of options available for his next move, with a whole host of clubs in the Premier League and across the continent interested in him this summer.

Crystal Palace sit firmly among the list of potential suitors for the 43-year-old, but sources have indicated that his decision regarding his next club could be driven by the chance to experience European football.

The Spaniard is keen to test himself on the European stage, but it is understood that the Eagles remain in the hunt to secure his services at the moment.

The South London outfit are long-term admirers of Iraola, and could yet be able to offer him the chance to compete on the continent next term.

Andoni Iraola availability adds weight to UEFA Conference League pursuit

Crystal Palace have had a taste of European football this season, and they have now reached the business end of their bid to secure UEFA Conference League glory.

Oliver Glasner’s side haven’t found it easy going, but they have successfully navigated their way past AEK Larnaca and Fiorentina in the knockout stages to set up a semi-final tie.

The Premier League side kick off their semi-final against Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine on Thursday night, with the winner across the two legs set to play the winner of Rayo Vallecano vs Strasbourg in the final.

Success in the Conference League has been one of the Eagles’ biggest goals this season, and Iraola’s imminent availability has now added even further weight to the rest of their campaign.

Victory in the final in Leipzig at the end of May would mean automatic qualification for next year’s Europa League, which could be a crucial bargaining tool when it comes to trying to persuade Iraola to take the job.

He has a wide array of options open to him this summer, with links ongoing for moves to the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle, but it is also clear that Palace are not out of the race for his services just yet.

Crystal Palace hit problem with other managerial target

Football Insider revealed on Monday that Crystal Palace’s pursuit of Liam Rosenior to become their next boss is set to encounter a major issue, despite him now being out of work.

The Eagles have shown a strong interest in trying to persuade the 41-year-old to take charge of them for next season, and their efforts have ramped up further in the aftermath of his exit from Chelsea last week.

However, Steve Parish and Co. now look set to be dealt a major blow in their pursuit, with Rosenior believed to be ready to take a break from football before stepping back into the world of management.

Palace’s search for a new boss has now been ongoing for several weeks after Glasner’s departure was confirmed at the end of the season, and they are hoping to have a new man through the door in the early stages of the summer.
